Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire lies in that sleepy part of Montreal's West Island. Many people don't know about the definition of the word, and think it is a separate Island west of Montreal. In fact, this part of Montreal is more than that. West Island includes the entire area from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to be from the West Island, but her time there was brief. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer however, a rapid growth rate meant that she grew beyond her dance partners. She acknowledged in a piece that was published in the Toronto Star that she was 6'1" tall and wore heels. When I outgrew my male friends then I slowed down. Dancers who have been in the past often go towards acting. In Bruce's case, it was the guidance of a drama teacher at her high school that brought her to take the step she required. It was suggested that she try out for roles in the school's production. It was the teacher who suggested that she attempt to play a part in the school's annual production. It was her turn to be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded the Fine Arts Talent scholarship at York University, where she took classes in theatre and was awarded a Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts in 2000.
